Our 2011 Cello Festival promises to be like no other Canadian festival! The Winnipeg Cultural Capital of Canada 2010 and the Agassiz team will be presenting the International Cello Festival of Canada 2011. It will be an extraordinary event, with a host of internationally celebrated cellists participating.

The Manitoba Chamber Orchestra will perform the world premiére of the Concerto for Two Cellos by the Vancouver-based composer Jocelyn Morlock, and the Final Gala Concert will be with the Winnipeg Symphony in Winnipeg’s Centennial Hall. The Festival will be presented in multiple venues across the city of Winnipeg. The Cello Festival will also include masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Colin Carr, Natalia Gutman and Desmond Hoebig.

The Festival is also happy to announce a new cello award, the 2011 Zara Nelsova Memorial Award for Canadian Cellists, for cellists aged between 22 and 32. Information can be found here.
